Spiritual Direction Supports Spirit-Guided Life
A form of sacred conversation, Spiritual Direction or Accompaniment is an ancient practice of listening together for the movement of spirit in one’s life. As trained listeners we accompany people on their spiritual journey, inviting them into an exploration of what gives their life meaning, guiding them as they grow closer to the divine mystery.
Spiritual Accompaniment invites us to connect to the inner voice of wisdom already present within each one of us. A voice that, over time, may have become muffled or drowned out by an increasing sense of disorientation -- either through culture, desperation, isolation, deep grief, or even world or ecological events.

In the afternoon of life, she gained her MEd in counselling psychotherapy from the University of Cambridge, UK and her spiritual director certification from Pacific Jubilee. Canadian born, she lives in Bragg Creek, Alberta, where she integrates her love of story writing and inquiry with a love of good food, spiritual direction, psychotherapy, the labyrinth, and nature, guiding others toward new levels of inner and outer awareness. Linda McLaren is a compassionate individual who is dedicated to creating space for growth and for awakening our connection to the world around us. She is an ordained minister in the United Church of Canada who has been trained in the art of spiritual direction through the Pacific Jubilee Program in Soul Guiding. Linda draws upon her life experiences and love for contemplative practice and connection with the mystical in her offering of spiritual direction. Her worldview has been shaped by her life experiences, inclusive faith, her past vocation as a registered nurse, a year of Clinical Pastoral Education, involvement in Healing Pathway and her belief that we all seek to be known, to belong and to have a meaningful purpose. She believes spiritual direction provides the heart space to listen for this wisdom within us; creating the space to deepen the connection with oneself, others, and the sacred. Linda offers spiritual direction online, by phone or in person. Email her to book a session.

"Listening is the powerful, soothing agent of all communication. Listening is the best tool there is to lower anxiety, diminish division, and open into sameness, into togetherness. Listening will help almost anyone who is triggered to calm down. The deeply beautiful and profound thirteenth-century Persian poet Rumi says, ‘Beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.’ Listening is a gateway into that open field."
